The media has revealed that Lionsgate-owned production company, Summit Entertainment, is in the early stages of developing a TV series based on Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” book series. The project is said to be currently in search for a writer to adapt the books for television, and no network or streaming platform is currently attached.

The “Twilight” book series, published between 2005 and 2008, has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and spawned five movies that grossed over $3 billion at the global box office. The story follows the romance between a teenage girl named Bella Swan and a vampire named Edward Cullen, as well as the conflicts and tensions between their respective supernatural communities.

The potential “Twilight” TV series is just the latest in a recent trend of book-to-screen adaptations, with streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon all investing heavily in acquiring and developing literary properties. While some adaptations, such as Netflix’s “Shadow and Bone,” have proven successful, others, such as Amazon’s “The Wheel of Time,” have faced mixed critical reception.

Overall, it remains to be seen whether a “Twilight” TV series will be able to capture the same fervor and passion from fans that the books and movies did. However, with the continued popularity of the supernatural romance genre and the built-in fanbase of the “Twilight” franchise, it’s certainly a project worth keeping an eye on.
