At least three children suffered stab wounds near a girl’s school in Dublin’s city centre, prompting a swift emergency response.

The attack transpired around 1 pm near Parnell Square, leading to the hospitalisation of two children. A suspect, apprehended at the scene and treated for injuries, is now in custody.

Emergency services, including Gardaí, are actively managing the situation, resulting in closed lanes and diversions. While details remain limited, a Garda spokesperson acknowledged the ongoing serious incident, emphasising the early stage of the investigation.

“An Garda Síochána are currently at the scene of a serious incident on Parnell Square East and are being assisted other emergency services,” a garda spokesperson has said.
