Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ casts Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, continues to solidify its cast with the addition of rising star Julia Garner.

According to sources reported by Deadline indicate that Julia Garner will portray Shalla-Bal, a rendition of the Silver Surfer character derived from the comics.

Garner, an Emmy award winner, is set to portray the iconic comic book character Silver Surfer in the upcoming movie.

The film has already secured its main cast members for the titular super team, with Pedro Pascal taking on the role of Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm, known as the Invisible Woman. 

Joseph Quinn is set to play Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing.

Director Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, is set to helm Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four from a script penned by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer. 

The production is slated to commence this summer, with a scheduled release date of July 25, 2025.

Garner’s trajectory in the entertainment industry has been on a steady ascent, particularly since her acclaimed portrayal of Ruth in the Netflix crime drama Ozark, which earned her three Emmy Awards. 

She recently starred in the released film The Royal Hotel and is lined up to appear in the forthcoming Blumhouse and Universal production Wolfman, alongside Christopher Abbott.
